This Spanish language film premiered in the US a week after the above film and that is why it's second. Like most of  Almodóvar's films this is a vibrant, emotionally rich & dramatic experience which explores the lives of several women connected by the central figure of Manuela (Cecilia Roth). After the tragic death of her son, Manuela embarks on a journey to find his father. Along the way, she encounters a diverse group of women, each dealing with their own struggles and triumphs. The film beautifully captures the solidarity and strength among women, particularly highlighting the nurturing and selfless aspects of motherhood.


Watch this one if you want to get swept away by an incredible series of events and how Penelope Cruz has aged only 10 years in 25 Earth years.



Room (2015)

Based on the book of the same name, this film is a sad but powerful story about a young mother, Joy (Brie Larson), who has been held captive for years and raises her son, Jack (Jacob Tremblay), in a small room. ’Night, Mother (1986)

Adapted from a play of the same name, Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek transform. This movie is an intense and emotional drama that centers on a conversation between a desperate mother, Thelma, and her daughter, Jessie who plans to take her own life that night. The film is a raw exploration of despair, hope, and the deep bond between mother and daughter. It portrays the urgency and depth of a mother's love as Thelma desperately tries to understand and prevent her daughter’s decision.
